Bruce Barrett Banner: White Supremacists will always perceive civility (kindness) as weakness. There is a HUGE difference between civility, which I approve, and servility, which I vehemently oppose.

Fannie LeFlore: Do you think part of it is that they feel untouchable, as if nothing can affect them?

Bruce: Absolutely. But that is the result of psychological conditioning under white (and male) supremacism. There is also the bigger issue that they are pursuing social domination while we are pursuing social liberation. They are the obstacle in our path to freedom. I don’t believe there is any going around them. There is only going through them. I’m down with that as a privileged white male penitent taking on white supremacism. I don’t believe this is everyone’s fight. White folks of good conscience have got to start cleaning up white people’s messes. That not white guilt and shame; that’s white accountability and responsibility.
